Abstract
This study aimed to develop an interdisciplinary general education curriculum to cultivate dance literacy among university students. For this purpose, a systematic approach was adopted based on the ADDIE model, a constructivist learning model commonly used when designing a curriculum. The study was conducted between August 2023 and March 2024. An open-ended survey was administered to students to analyze their needs according to the ADDIE model. In addition, an FGI was conducted with six experts, and a second Delphi survey was conducted with a panel of five experts based on the FGI results. The interdisciplinary general education curriculum, comprising five stages-Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation-was named “Literacy Insights for Dance.” The learning content of this class was divided into four areas: anthropological and historical context, aesthetic context, sociocultural context, and relevance to daily life and was composed of 12 educational solutions. In addition, rather than focusing solely on directly appreciating dance works, it was supplemented by applying various visual materials such as movies, dramas, advertisements, and photos related to the learning activities for each topic, such as exploration, analysis, and discussion. In Korean universities, dance is mainly limited to “recreation-related dance” subjects in the health field or “dance appreciation” in the arts field, but this study expands the value of dance as a general education in terms of convergence and opens up possibilities for society. It is believed that this will make it possible to provide students with a creative perspective from which to look and explore.
